Lou Pearlman (a successful business man from Orlando, Florida) was at a New Kids On The Block concert and saw how the girls reacted, when an idea popped into his head.  He always dreamed of stardom himself so why not give someone else the oportunity, so he decided to create his own pop group along the lines of the New Kids. He auditioned numerous guys until he found AJ, the first BSB, Howie the second and Nick the third.  There were originally two other guys, Charles and Sam, but left for different reasons.  Kevin then auditioned and was accepted, then he called his cousin Brian in Kentucky who was in his US History class at school at the time and he was auditioned over the phone!  The next day Brian was on a plane to Orlando and thus Backstreet Boys were formed.
